Siam Elephant is located in the lush green mountains, North West of Thailand (1 hour, 45 minutes from Chiang Mai). Our mission is to care for and improve the lives of elephants that have previously been mistreated or abused. We offer an experience you will never forget (like an elephant), an opportunity to get close to these gentle giants as well as being able to observe them in their natural habitat. Here at Siam Elephant we allow our elephants freedom: no tricks, no shows, no work. Elephant welfare is our number one priority: we are working towards a more hands-off approach to allow our elephants to be elephants. We take pride in the ethical aspects of our project and do everything in our power to ensure our elephants are happy!
At Siam Elephant we strive to create a positive environment for everyone: elephants, employees, visitors and community members. The local community is key to the progression of our project and an important aspect of our work. We use a community-based approach, supporting and involving the local community by purchasing food from farmers for the elephants, hiring them as employees and sponsoring youth projects.
Tour Details:
Spend your day in the diverse and dense jungle of the Mae Taeng area, a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai. As you trek through the jungle, watching and experiencing these beautiful strong creatures as they graze into the jungle, play in mud and play with each other. Stop along the way to collect jungle herbs and natural plants to make delicious treats to feed the Elephants. At the end of the day you will have a chance to bath the Elephants and play together in the river.
